Kiddies Day 2017

“Kiddies Day” of Southlands College was ceremoniously held on the 7th March 2017 at “Samanala Grounds’ with the participation of students from Grade 1 to 5.Honourable Vajira Abewardena, Minister of Home Affairs was invited to be chief guest while Manusha Nanayakkara, Deputy Minister of Foreign Employment graced the occation as the special guest. The kite festival is one such program that was an awesome experience for the kids at Southlands. Challenge Day

One of the most interesting event of our centenary celebration the "Challenge Day" program was held at Galle Fort Rampart ground on 23rd February 2017 and successfully completed giving all participants with much enthusiasm. The day's program was ceremonialy opened by the Principal, guide commissioners, guide and scout leaders of invited schools were among the invitees with the OGA committee members. The Challenge Day program was well organized with a series of activities full of challenge for the competitors like Air rifle, Vertical rope, tunnels and ladders. The Rampart was converted to an atmosphere with tough physical training ground by the Army and Navy officers giving us opportunity to have a great competition. We salute you all with much honour and gratitude the army and navy officers for everything they have done for us. In the evening the Award Ceremony was started at 5.00p.m. at the college auditorium. End of the day with much tiresome activities all joined in this entertaining moment of awards evening. The zonal director of Education Galle Mr. Thilak Waththuhewa , colonel Gunasekara of Army brigade 581 Boossa, Captain Roshan Rubera of Navy base South graced this occasion with the madam principal Mrs.Sandhya Pathiranawasam as the invitees. The first-ever "Challenge Day" program in the history of Southlands College was organized by one of the most devoted guide leader of the college Mrs.Darshani Sooriarachchi and our loving teacher Mrs.Rupika De Zoysa. The event was much memorable for the winners of the event best shooter scout, best shooter guide were awarded with trophies. The event winner of scout trophy was brought home by proud Richmond College Galle and the guide trophy was taken by Team A from Siridhamma College.Read more...
